Most schools here have NO library. Maybe you have access to school books (best are reference books, Spanish or English, learning aids/flash cards and the like for kindergarten etc . . . ages 4 to 14).
Do you have an old laptop sitting in a closet gathering dust "just in case you need it"? Consider bringing it with you for a child or teacher in the barrio to use at the school. We'd be happy to "clean it of any data" before it is delivered.
These donations will go directly to the Escuela Tuetal Sur (local public primary school) close to the hotel or to the Escuela Poasito near Poas Volcano.
You will be most welcomed at either school if you'd like to deliver some books or a used laptop in person - they will be very happy to see you and show you 2 extraordinary schools! 1 book, 10 books - everything counts here. This might just be your most interesting visit of your trip. If you are not a guest at the Pura Vida, bring a bag labeled "Donation Escuela Tuetal Sur - taxis aeropuerto deliver to Berni c/o Pura Vida Hotel, Tuetal Sur Phone 2430-2929 pago par voucher", as you exit the terminal at SJO hand it only to a driver with a shirt labeled "Taxis Aeropuerto" and we will donate the taxi fare.
Recently Ca'lita found us on Pack for a Purpose and, though she wasn't a guest, had a day spare to help near the SJO airport so we hooked her up with our school.
